CeraNova's proprietary extrusion and firing methods produce round, straight, contamination-free fibers with consistent characteristics and properties. Our process uses conventional ceramic processing technology and is capable of producing large quantities of fiber at low cost.
Density measurements have shown CeraNova fibers to be typically >95% dense. Measured piezoelectric properties usually meet or exceed the expected values, as specified by the PZT powder manufacturer.
Presently, CeraNova has the capacity to manufacture 12,000 PZT fibers per week. Work in increasing our production capacity continues with the goal of increasing fiber production by ten fold within the next year. Furthermore, our engineers and technicians are developing asembly processes for preassembled Preforms which will eliminate the need for handling individual PZT fibers and reduce the costs of assembling active fiber composites.

CeraNova
is capable of producing fibers ranging from 100 to 600 microns in
diameter. Fiber material is extruded in continuous lengths, then cut and
fired as short pieces, usually 15 to 20 cm long.
